Troupe Courage is the well-known international acting company, founded by Katrien van Beurden, that has been touring the world for over 20 years. They collect stories about human resilience and how people try to survive in the most resourceful ways in times of challenge. They have worked in America, Ghana, Iran, Morocco, Romania and India, among others. From metropolitan metropolises to conflict zones, they bring stories to life with their archetypal characters - the old woman, the manager, the playing child, the silent one. In 2023, Katrien was appointed Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
Interactive lectures, training sessions & daytime chairing
From now until June 2026, Katrien will tour the Netherlands with inspiring lectures and training sessions for companies and organisations. This is an advance to the show Circus Courage. (See below) In her lectures and training sessions, Katrien takes you on a kaleidoscopic journey. She shows how important it is, especially in times of change and challenge, to keep developing the mindset to be innovative and keep playing. With humour, sharpness and a disarming energy, she helps leaders and teams discover how, precisely when challenged, growth has a chance.

Katrien van Beurden is oprichtster en artistiek leider van het internationale theatergezelschap Troupe Courage. In mei 2023 werd Katrien van Beurden benoemd tot Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau – een erkenning voor haar grenzeloze inzet om theater actueel en onmisbaar te maken. Dit eerbetoon markeert niet alleen haar carrière, maar weerspiegelt ook haar onvermoeibare zoektocht naar de essentie van het theater en de transformatieve kracht ervan. Di Trevis van de Royal Shakespeare Company noemt haar werk “dodelijk serieus en tegelijkertijd oergeestig.” Theaterkrant-recensent Kester Freriks schreef: “Belangrijk en innovatief theater. Als actrice speelde in films zoals Tom Adelaar, De Wederopstanding van een Klootzak, en Kidnep, en had televisierollen in Zomer zonder mamma, Kerst met de Kuipers, en Rampvlucht. Komend seizoen speelt ze in de serie Buza en de hoofdrol in De vuurwerkramp van Lourens Blok.
Circus Courage ; where hope lives unabashedly
In 2026, Circus Courage erupts-an explosive theatrical experience full of imagination, humour and human resilience. In a world where despair rises and powerlessness paralyses us, Troupe Courage brings the most groundbreaking circus ever. With actors from Burundi, America, Afghanistan, Syria and the Netherlands, among others, they move from villages to cities, from theatres to businesses, from countries to continents. Everywhere, they collect stories about how people keep going in turbulent times.
The performance Circus Courage is about survival, magic and wonder about a world where everything seems possible. But it is also a mirror: these times call for dedication and perseverance. Perhaps this is exactly what we need right now-an invitation to play again. Because in playfulness and freedom lies breathing space. That is where new possibilities arise. That is where hope finds its way again.
