Be prepared to laugh, cry, sweat, and rejoice.

WORKSHOPS

Troupe Courage offers several workshops in which participants have the unique opportunity to discover Troupe Courage's theatre. Their playful, positive approach, rooted in a unique pedagogy, encourages creativity and innovation. It requires dedication and rigorous training, and it is easy to fall in love with it.

Methodology:

At the heart of Troupe Courage's pedagogy are its masks. These masks unlock an actor's creativity and imagination, making the body the primary storyteller. Through mask work, thoughts, emotions and actions transform into playful expressions, resulting in actors and characters that come fully to life-born with passion, needs and flaws.

In the workshops, you will work on:

  • Physical transformation

  • Exploring archetypal characters

  • Creating comedy from tragedy

  • Expressing emotions, from subtle nuances to extreme intensity

  • The power of playfulness and imagination

  • Embracing lostness: painful for the actor, golden for the character

Di Trevis (Royal Shakespeare Company/Britain's National Theatre) describes Troupe Courage's work as ‘deadly serious and enormous fun’. Theaterkrant reviewer Kester Freriks calls it ‘important and innovative theatre’.

Troupe Courage conducts workshops at renowned institutions such as the Amsterdam School of Drama & Contemporary Music (ATKA) and NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
