Club Classique and Troupe Courage join forces in this musicaltheater spectacle in which masks, storytelling and a one-woman orchestra are the basic ingredients.
In Isabella and Madame Ching, Myrthe and Katrien wonder what to do with these stormy times, in which hope seems scarce and powerlessness lurks. Armed with a violin, a bag full of masks and a troop of young players, they travel back in history with an imaginary ship to other raging times in search of inspiring stories.
Katrien takes us to war-torn and bubonic plague-ridden Italy of the 16th century. There, in the eye of the storm, we meet Isabella who enchants the audience with her own theater group and masks, playing her way out of poverty. Myrthe becomes fascinated with Madame Ching who, in the early 19th century, rules a fleet of 400 ships and 80,000 pirates. She is the terror of Chinese waters, defies international world trade and introduces a new pirate code that protects female prisoners. How do Isabella and Madame Ching go right through the storm and make the impossible possible? Inspired by their hyper-creative fighting spirit, we travel past the players' own personal, wacky, brutal, insane and moving stories to the storm fighters of today.
Each performance has a special guest; from neighborhood mother to climate activist, writer or children's judge. Through the special guest's story, we recognize the stormtrooper within ourselves.
